The festival is a FREE admission, three-day event that continues the legacy of the National Folk Festival, which was held in Greensboro from 2015–2017. In the tradition of “The National,” the North Carolina Folk Festival features performing groups representing a diverse array of cultural traditions from around the world on multiple stages, including continuous music and dance performances, a makers marketplace, regional and ethnic foods, festival merchandise and more!”

Quality Aging Conference

Forsyth County Government is hosting a Quality Aging Conference that will provide information to seniors and caregivers on how to maintain older adults’ independence as they age. Topics will include resources for seniors, Medicaid and Medicare, nutrition and dental health, brain health, emotional wellness and more. North Carolina State Elaine Marshall will give a presentation about her office’s work to protect state residents from scams and fraud. Seating is limited and registration is required.

You Know You Need It: Now There’s a Free Workshop to Get It!
We put off a lot of things we know we need thinking we’ll get around to it later. A Health Care Power of Attorneyand a Living Willare often in that category. Many times, we see others who needed those documents but who waited and were caught by a crisis. Now there’s a free workshop just for you. You’ll walk out with what you need and one (or two) less things to worry about.
On Wednesday, September 27th we will provide a 30-minute workshop at 10:00 AM providing necessary documents, notaries, and witnesses to help you finalize these important documents. AARP, Cone Health, Carolina Aging Alliance, Health Team Advantage, Triad Healthcare Network along with Senior Resources of Guilford are providing this FREEworkshop to help you create both documents and help you get your documents in order.
The State of North Carolina provides standard healthcare power of attorney documents online FREE, they only need your signature, a notary, and witnesses to protect yourself and your loved ones, getting the care you want and need. If you are a Cone System patient, we will be able to load these legal documents into the Cone Medical Records System to further protect you.

Caregiver Support Group

Virtual on Zoom
Meetings are open to anyone who is a personal or professional caregiver. Carolina Aging Alliance is offering this group to provide a non-judgmental framework for caregivers to find understanding and support. The group will provide, in an informal setting, a safe place to give voice to stressful experiences, successes, strong feelings, personal frustrations, and to explore options and solutions. All sessions will be self-led without a facilitator.
