LGBTQ+ Films, Friends, and Food

September 4, 2024, 5:30-8:30 pm

Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill, NC

Join Orange County Department on Aging’s LGBTQ+ SRT for our monthly dinner and movie series.

September’s showing will be the film Portrait of a Lady of Fire.  In 1760 France, Marianne (Noémie Merlant) is commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of Héloïse (Adèle Haenel), a young woman who has just left the convent. Because she is a reluctant bride-to-be, Marianne arrives under the guise of companionship, observing Héloïse by day and secretly painting her by firelight at night. As the two women orbit each other, attraction and intimacy grow as they share Héloïse's first moments of freedom. Héloïse's portrait soon becomes a collaborative act of and testament to their love.

Co-hosted by Carolina Aging Alliance and Project EngAGE LGBTQ+ Senior Resource Team.
