LGBTQ+ Dinner and a Movie
Tuesday, September 5, 5:30-8 PM
Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Rd, Chapel Hill
Join Orange County Department on Aging’s LGBTQ+ SRT as we bring back our monthly dinner and movie series with a new twist! We will embrace our opportunities to share good films, great company, and delicious potlucks.
September’s featured film is The Big Gay Musical. Starring in the Off-Broadway musical comedy, Adam & Steve - Just the way God made'em, aspiring actors Paul and Eddie find their complicated lives mirroring their onstage characters. Though rousing musical numbers that feature scantily clad tap-dancing angels, a clever retelling of Genesis, creepy televangelists, and a camp that attempts tot turn gay kids straight, eveyone realizes that life gets better once they accept who they really are: Just the way God made'em!
Co-hosted by Carolina Aging Alliance and Project EngAGE LGBTQ+ Senior Resource Team
Contact method is required upon registration. Don’t forget to register with the Seymour Center at 919-968-2070. Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm.

Pride:Durham 2023
September 23, 10 AM - 4 PM
Duke East Campus, Durham, NC
This year’s theme for Pride is “GIVE THEM THEIR FLOWERS" -- as the subtitle describes, we offer honor and gratitude for the courage and leadership of our trans communities, particularly our Black and brown trans women and non-binary folks. Our events this year will provide opportunities for us to center and celebrate members of the LGBTQ+ community who boldly certify our public standards for human dignity, all while facing physical violence, hateful legislation, and other harmful experiences. We intend to commemorate our ancestors who sowed past seeds that still bear fruit today and to pay tribute to the people who help us be our best selves now, embodying our highest values and greatest visions for a more whole, safe, and liberated Durham, North Carolina.
Join Carolina Aging Alliance for a day-long celebration! We will have our tent set up to welcome you.
The event starts at 10:30 AM with the Pride Parade, then moves onto the Festival starting at Noon at Duke East Campus. Finishing up the day with concert from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at CCB Plaza.
