For the months of October we will be walking the trail at Shelly Lake Park for our Sunday and Wednesday walks. Dates are Wednesday October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and Sunday October 6, 13, 20, 27.
Use 1400 West Millbrook Road, Raleigh as your GPS address. Make sure you use the entrance that's marked "Shelley Lake - Sertoma Arts Center" and not the smaller annex parking lot. We will meet at the trailhead near the arts center entrance.
As always we will start walking at 10:00.
Post-walk coffee will continue at New World Cafe, 5900 Duraleigh Rd. For those just who want to meet just for coffee, we usually arrive between 11:00 and 11:15 am.
In case of inclement weather or if the heat index is expected to be above 85 degrees at the starting time of our walk, we will walk at Crabtree Valley Mall, meeting by the McDonald's on the second floor food court. If we will be walking indoors, you may want to consider wearing a facemask. Regardless of our walking location, bring water to stay hydrated.

The Green Monkey "Play Spades" Meetup

The Green Monkey “Play Spades” Meetup will be free play 2:00-5:00 pm every Sunday October 6, 13, 20, 27, and 3:00-6:00 pm every Tuesday October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. Players are welcome to join in anytime during that time period. There is no cost to participate, and everyone is welcome to come join the fun and socialize with friends and new acquaintances. You can participate whether you are a beginner, average or accomplished player, or someone coming just to observe. Spades is a very popular and fun card game that is easy to learn how to play. If you have never played but would like to learn the game, our host Rusty and other participating players will be glad to teach the game to you.

Good News for People Who Like Games: Puzzles, Cards, and Chess May Help Reduce Dementia Risk.
Parking: There is a parking deck (The Car Park) at 233 S. Wilmington Street located in the same block as, and only a half block from, the entrance to The Green Monkey. S. Wilmington St. is a one way street going north between Fayetteville St. and Blount St. From either street turn onto E. Martin St. and then north on Wilmington St. to enter the parking deck on your right just after turning.
