Education
To effectively connect with older LGBTQ+ adults, it is essential to cultivate both knowledge and empathy. Recognizing their unique histories, internalized trauma, and potential disconnection from biological families is crucial for fostering meaningful engagement. Many older LGBTQ+ individuals often create chosen families, which highlights the importance of this understanding in our interactions with them.

Carolina Aging Alliance has created training programs aimed at helping senior services organizations become more effective in their interactions with LGBTQ+ residents, clients, families, and caregivers. Additionally, we offer educational resources to our members on various topics, including healthy living, navigating senior services, and much more.
